Raf Simons used delicate marble prints on this collection, but for his own mainline the inspiration was rather more colorful:

Mark Rothko? Why not, I guess it's a natural reaction after all those pixels...remember the handpainted dressed Dolce & Gabbana did? I think we might have a art-school prom king and queen here:

Anyway, I'm not sure about these ones, but it's gonna take months before they hits stores, so there's time to get used too them

Hitlerjugend-cut and just color hair-roots, like here, from the Dries Van Noten-show
Yves Saint Laurent fall 08/09
As for the presentations, it looks like films instead of a ordinary catwalk-presentation is not just a trend...it started of with Yves Saint Laurent and a video directed by London based Colonel Blimp. Stefano Pilati did a video with Nick Knight for showstudio last year, 24HRS. (don't forget Knights collaboration with Hussein Chalayan, Readings.)
And as a climax, it ended with Bernhard Willhelm

Hussein Chalayan says he did a video for the spring 08-collection “Readings” cause it makes it accessible for a much bigger audience via the Internet (even though it looks like websites such as hintmag.com and style.com refuses to report on it).
Actually, Nick Knight replied on my theory that Hussein does this too save money after the last two spectacular shows:

I just saw some videoclips from the collection and it made so much sence suddenly...Nicholas Ghesquiére is maybe the only designer I can think of right now (together with Margiela and Chalayan) that combines prints, construction and silhouettes in a way I that really makes me , well, think
And it's not "ah - cool" or "no, ewww"...It's actually "hm, interesting", and that's the reason one million blogs will continue to discuss these clothes. Everything else is so predictable

we all know he defined avant-garde design as we know it today
and he still does
it's techno-goth-babe
it's star trek
if you take some pieces out of their context it's wearable on your way to the nearest grosery store (i'm drunk writing this)
I guess you can remove those shoulderpads, but come on. They look fab. That unicornprint-outfit...mmm...
but what I find most important....it feels visionary, and I'm a sucker for that
(it's Martin Margiela by the way)

it's really hard to report from the Paris fashion week when you actually aren't there...there is style.com (who we all rip pictures from here on 2depressed) reporting every single collection, with backstage- and frontrowphotos, and even some video-reports. Then there is showstudio.com, represented by Penny Martin, where it's being reported live with mobilecameras, this year with a little help from hipster-idols Henry Holland and Agyness Deyn! (cyberpuppy have to colour her hair now...)
And then there's hintmag.com where you get funny backstagephotos viewed as a slideshow with music to join
so what more can we offer? nothing more than our personal favourites and views...and bad english, ofcourse

He always put on the most suprising shows, and speaking of the Jetsons, if somebody truly belive in taking futuristic fashion a step futher, Hussein Chalayan is the man. Last year he created a indoor tornado on the Paris catwalk, he have turned a coffetable into a dress, made clothes in paper and aluminium. The last two seasons he've used robot-technology, with a videoscreen-dress last year. This season the collection is inspired by celebrity-workshipping. It's presented as video made in collaboration with Nick Knight, showstudio.com and Antony (from & The Johnsons). He's beyond fashion and trends, seriously. Come on, as Björk once said in a interview:
"He raises daily life to a level of something magical, he was born with these powers and it is a question of whether 50,000 business people are willing to go there with him"
(let's hope she'll use that laser-dress on a award-cermony soon)
and by the way, why doesen't people talk more about the simple, but great hats he have done lately?
